Description
The Silmarillion
Step beyond the familiar horizons of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings and plunge into the vast, foundational mythology of The Silmarillion . As the definitive epic history of J.R.R. Tolkien’s universe,The Silmarillion chronicles the monumental events of the Elder Days and the First Age, serving as the ancient backdrop that shapes the destinies of beloved characters like Elrond and Galadriel.
Immerse yourself in a legendary era when the first Dark Lord reigned in Middle-earth, sparking a fierce, devastating war waged by the High Elves to reclaim the sacred jewels that held the uncorrupted light of the gods. Alongside this sweeping central conflict, The Silmarillion collects several deeply enriching companion texts that span the breadth of Arda's history:
Creation and Pantheon: Experience the cosmic origins of the universe through the sacred music of creation, paired with a detailed chronicle outlining the divine powers and natures of the ruling gods.
The Downfall of Kingdoms: Witness the tragic hubris and cataclysmic destruction of the great island civilization of Númenor at the close of the Second Age.
The Legacy of Power: Trace the historical roots and monumental events that directly culminated in the epic struggle of the Third Age, as detailed in The Lord of the Rings.
Essential for any serious fantasy reader or Tolkien enthusiast, The Silmarillion offers a breathtaking, majestic exploration of mythology, heroism, and the eternal battle between light and shadow.

Author
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born on the 3rd January, 1892 at Bloemfontein in the Orange Free State, but at the age of four he and his brother were taken back to England by their mother. After his father’s death the family moved to Sarehole, on the south-eastern edge of Birmingham. Tolkien spent a happy childhood in the countryside and his sensibility to the rural landscape can clearly be seen in his writing and his pictures.
