Description

Tales from the Cafe by Toshikazu Kawaguchi is a heartwarming and emotional Japanese novel that continues the magical story of Cafe Funiculi Funicula. Set in a small, windowless basement café in Tokyo, the book explores an extraordinary question: if you could travel back in time, who would you want to meet one more time?

The café offers its customers a mysterious chance to return to the past, but the experience comes with strict rules. The journey cannot change the present, yet it may give people an opportunity to say what was left unsaid, reconnect with someone they have lost, or find the emotional closure they need to move forward.

In Tales from the Cafe, four new visitors arrive at Cafe Funiculi Funicula, each carrying their own regrets and unfinished emotions. Their journeys include a man who wants to see his best friend who died 22 years ago, a son who missed his mother's funeral, and others who hope to reconnect with people from their past.

Through these touching stories, Toshikazu Kawaguchi explores love, friendship, family, grief, regret, and the importance of meaningful connections. Tales from the Cafe is a gentle and reflective novel for readers who enjoy emotional storytelling, Japanese fiction, and stories about second chances.
