Description

Before Your Memory Fades by Toshikazu Kawaguchi is a heartwarming and emotional Japanese novel that continues the beloved Cafe Funiculi Funicula series. Following Before the Coffee Gets Cold and Tales from the Cafe, this moving story once again explores an extraordinary question: what would you do if you could travel back in time, and who would you want to meet one last time?

On the hillside of Mount Hakodate in northern Japan, Cafe Donna Donna is known for its beautiful views of Hakodate port. But behind its peaceful atmosphere lies a remarkable secret—the café offers visitors a chance to travel through time.

As new visitors arrive at Cafe Donna Donna, each carries their own memories, regrets, and unfinished emotions. They hope that a brief journey into the past will help them reconnect with someone important, express feelings left unsaid, or find the courage to move forward.

With its gentle storytelling and deeply human characters, Before Your Memory Fades explores love, family, friendship, loss, regret, memories, and the emotional connections that remain with us even after someone is gone.

Translated from Japanese by Geoffrey Trousselot, this touching novel is an ideal choice for readers who enjoy Japanese fiction, emotional storytelling, magical realism, and thought-provoking stories about time and relationships.
