Description

The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind

The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind is a gripping memoir of survival, ingenuity, and perseverance, now adapted into a major Netflix film starring and directed by Chiwetel Ejiofor. The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind tells the inspiring true story of a heroic young inventor who brought electricity and hope to his village.

When a severe drought struck William Kamkwamba's small village in Malawi, his family lost their entire harvest, leaving them facing devastating poverty and starvation. Determined to find a solution, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind follows William as he dives into science books at his local library. There, he conceived a brilliant idea that would change his family's life forever: building a functioning windmill. Armed only with scrap metal, tractor parts, and old bicycle components, William successfully constructed a towering windmill that generated electricity and pumped vital water to save his family's crops.
